Tonight: Jonnycat Memorial

Today is the memorial for Jonnycat. Fred the Barber is in town for it, so we’re going to have lunch, then drive around for some supplies, and then head to Polaris Hall for the tech check and decorating, and celebrating the life of our dearly departed.

Jonny got cancer about 8 years ago, and it was a fucking wild ass ride. He didn’t really show how he was feelign about it at the beginning. I got a text once from him that was about his visit to the doctor and he got the results of imaging back about the tumor. “It’s big, like a grapefruit size. Then, when he zoomed in, you could see these sharp teeth and a shitty grin, wearing an upsidedown cross earring and flippinng us off”. I wanted us all to do tumor portraits to sell for healthcare, or get shitty tattoos of, or somehting. At the time I didn’t know about disappearing texts, and it disappeared. Oh well.

Jonny was sweet and so fun and also protective, smart, motivated, and self assured. He had so much love and respect and support, and really cared for people and would tell them! He was always giving gifts and making shit happen.

There’s a video of True Stories and Tall Tales about Jonnycat with great stories that Kenton and Justin Maurer hosted. We’ll be having a great time tonight because Jonny loved celebrations, living life to the fullest, friends, cake and frosters. We must.
